Lakeside

Lakeside is at the southern end of lake Windermere, a delightfully unique area to visit and ideal boarding point for your sail on the lake with Windermere Lake Cruises.

Lakeside is the traditional home of the Lake Steamers, and an excellent starting point to visit the Lake District. Not only will you find adequate parking but also find plenty of attractions and facilities for all the family. 

Top Activities

Take a boat trip to Bowness or Ambleside, on ones of our regularly scheduled vessels. Launch's run throughout the year with the steamers operating the summer timetable from April to November.

Take the cruise of your choice, relax on the spacious vessels for a round trip taking in the sites and scenery of the lake or why not break you journey at Bowness and Ambleside and return on any later scheduled vessel.  

  Ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway

 

Put together a fleet of superb lake cruisers, the lovingly preserved and restored steam locomotives and a picturesque section of the Old Furness Railway line and you have the makings of a trip back in time, a unique and memorable day out.

The line runs through beautiful country from the pier at Lakeside to Haverthwaite Station. Regular daily connections are published in our timetable. 

Visit the Aquarium of the Lakes 

Visit the Aquarium of the Lakes featuring the largest collection of freshwater fish in England and the chance to See otters at work, rest and play.

The Aquarium of the lakes takes you on a fascinating voyage along a Lake District river from its mountain top origins to its final destination of Morecambe Bay.

Over 30 wonderful displays under one roof, including the UK's largest collection of freshwater fish and a underwater tunnel walk along a recreated lake bed.

Sail to Fell Foot Park

Take the family on a five minute sail to Fell Foot National Trust Park with its adventure playground, woodland trail and picnic area on the shore of the lake, return at your leisure.

Boat service operates Easter through to October.
