Lakes Culture - Ignite 2015
Lakes Ignite is about showing visitors to the Lake District that it is a place to experience outstanding culture, not just fells, lakes and ales! Some of the exciting art events can be found at two popular stops on our green cruise. See full information below:
Harmonica Botanica is a plant whose growth is monitored digitally and translated into music. The music constantly changes as the plant grows, creating a real-time evolving soundscape that never repeats. The piece is the creation of local Cumbrian artist Dan Fox.
You can see it in the Fern House at Wray Castle until 20 May – travel there on our Green Cruise that connects Brockhole to Wray Castle and Ambleside.
TAKE ME BACK TO MANCHESTER FILM
Renowned comic artist Oliver East recreated the legendary walk of Maharajah the elephant and his keeper Lorenzo Lawrence from Waverley Station, Edinburgh, through the length of the Lake District to Belle Vue Zoo, Manchester sketching and walking along the way. 2 Cumbrian-based film makers Dom Bush and Simon Sylvester have made a film of the Cumbria stage of the journey.
The film is being screened free at Brockhole Visitor Centre on 8-17 May. Boat trips between Wray Castle (above) and Brockhole are the Green Cruise
EVELYN DE MORGAN - April 24 - September 13
