Self Drive & Rowing Boats

Why not take out your own boat to discover the beauty and tranquility of Lake Windermere at your own pace. You do not need any experience of driving boats as we give you full instructions on how to drive the boat and a full safety talk on where and where not to go on the lake as well as providing you with life jackets. If you do get into trouble we have a safety boat that will come to your rescue!

Motor Boats

Motor Boats are available from the wooden huts to the right of Bowness promenade and under Lake View restaurant at the end of the jetty.

We have two kinds of motor boat; the open traditional type with a tiller to steer, and cabin boats with sliding cabin roofs and steering wheels.

Up to two adults is £18.00 in an open boat for one hour with each extra adult being £6.00. Cabin boats start at £22.00 for two adults with each extra adult being £6.00. Accompanied children under 16 years old are free.

We will be hiring motor boats out in the February half-term holidays from Sat 11th Feb - until Sun 19th Feb, approx 9-3.30pm. Please ring 015394 88178 for more info.

Rowing Boats

Rowing boats are available from the wooden huts to the right of Bowness promenade and from Waterhead (Ambleside).

Rowing Boats are £12.00 for 1 or 2 adults and children under 16 are free.
