Bowness to Lakeside, with a trip to two top attractions at the south of the lake

This great-value combined ticket includes our Yellow Cruise on Lake Windermere, a journey on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway, and entry to the Lakeland Motor Museum. It’s a full day of heritage, scenery and hands-on discovery at the southern end of the lake.

Your cruise travels between Bowness and Lakeside Pier, offering beautiful views of the surrounding fells, ancient woodlands and grand houses along the way. With informative onboard commentary, it’s a peaceful and picturesque way to experience the Lake District from the water.

From Lakeside Pier, it’s just a short walk to the platform where you’ll board a lovingly restored steam train. The railway winds through the tranquil Leven Valley to Haverthwaite Station, where you’ll find a visitor centre, woodland trail, playground, café and gift shop. Dogs are welcome on the train and travel free of charge.

Your ticket also includes entry to the Lakeland Motor Museum, home to more than 30,000 exhibits including vintage cars, motorcycles, bicycles and the iconic Campbell Bluebird collection. With riverside views, a family-friendly café and fascinating displays, it’s a brilliant stop for all ages.

Please note: The Lakeland Motor Museum is 2 miles from Lakeside Pier, and we do not recommend walking there due to the lack of pavements and fast-moving traffic. That’s why your museum entry remains valid for up to five days after your cruise, giving you the flexibility to visit another day by car or other means.

More information:

  • Start your journey at Bowness Pier, Lakeside Pier or Haverthwaite Station
  • Each boat cruise features onboard commentary highlighting Windermere’s rich history and attractions
  • Hop on and off. Take your time at each stop and return on a later departure on the same day
  • If starting from Haverthwaite, show your e-ticket at the station and scan it at Lakeside before boarding the boat
  • Train travel is valid only on the date selected when booking
  • Seating on the train is not reserved; it’s first come, first served
  • Lakeland Motor Museum is 2 miles from Lakeside Pier. We recommend visiting on another day

*You can start from Haverthwaite Station - just book an e-ticket from Lakeside and show at the station. You'll just need to scan at Lakeside before crossing over to the awaiting boat. Please arrive early at Haverthwaite to ensure enough time for car parking.

Booked the yellow cruise ( lakeside to Bowness return and access to the motor museum). An absolute bargain at £ 22. Motor museum is brilliant, cruise was fantastic ( picked a lovely day) . Unfortunately I managed to drop my wallet on the boat and only realised hours later. Called to see if I’d lost on the boat, they had it in ticket office, completely intact, decent honest people offering a brilliant day out at a fantastic price. ~ Stirlingtec. TripAdvisor.

We went to the museum on a wet day instead going for a walk in the rain. Don't let that be the only reason you go. The quality of the exhibits and the condition they are kept in is quite outstanding. We chatted to the Curator when we left and we could see by his passion for the place why it is so good. People have said that they spent a couple of hours looking round, we had hour, a break for coffee, another two hours and break for lunch followed by another hour in the Campbell exhibition. We'll be going back to soak up more nostalgia and history next time we are in the area. Can't recommend this place enough. ~ Chris.P. Google Reviews.
