‘Silver Sailors’ offered 75% off with Windermere Lake Cruises

Published: 23rd April 2019

How does 24 hours of unlimited cruising on Windermere sound, along with a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum and a trip on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway - all for less than £13?

That’s exactly what’s on offer for local people aged over 60 from across Cumbria and North Lancashire this spring, who are being given the chance to enjoy a trip with Windermere Lake Cruises at a massive discount on the regular ticket price.

On every Friday throughout the remainder of April and all of May 2019, ‘silver sailors’ can enjoy the beauty of England’s longest lake from onboard one of Windermere Lake Cruises ‘steamers’, for just a quarter of the usual fee; £5.50 for a famous “Freedom of the Lake” ticket.

The 75% discount offer for a cruise on the lake is open to over 60s who live locally in postcode areas beginning with either LA or CA – with other special offers also including the nearby attractions listed in the table here.

Furthermore, every over-60 visitor from the local area can also bring a local friend of any age to enjoy the attractions at the same discounted price.

All people need to do to qualify for the Friday discounts offer, is simply present proof of age and residency when booking.

Tickets can be purchased from any Windermere Lake Cruises booking office, located at Bowness Pier, Lakeside Pier and Ambleside (Waterhead) Pier. They can also be bought at the offices of the Lakeland Motor Museum and from the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.

It’s not just a cruise on the water that the over-60s and their friends will be able to enjoy though: With several jetties along both sides of the lake, visitors can also stop off at beauty spots including Wray Castle, the Lake District Visitors Centre at Brockhole and Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories - with the added bonus of grandchildren aged under 5 travelling for free.
