Brockhole on Windermere: adventure, play and lakeside fun for the whole family

Located between Windermere and Ambleside, Brockhole is easy to reach by car, public transport or, for a truly memorable day out, by boat with Windermere Lake Cruises. Hop aboard our Red Cruise, which operates year-round between Bowness and Ambleside, or our Green Cruise during the summer season, and enjoy a scenic journey across Windermere before arriving at Brockhole's dedicated pier.

New for 2026, Brockhole House is now home to Minty Land by BeWILDerwood and a welcoming café, adding even more family fun to this popular lakeside attraction.

Arrive by Windermere Lake Cruises

One of the best ways to visit Brockhole is by boat. Brockhole has its own dedicated pier, making it easy to arrive directly by Red Cruise from Bowness or Ambleside, or by Green Cruise from Ambleside and Wray during the summer months. It's a relaxing and scenic way to travel, with spectacular views across Windermere before you even step ashore.

Free adventure playground

The popular adventure playground features the Play Galleon, nine play towers and the impressive Mountain Tower. With climbing frames, slides and imaginative play zones, it's a firm favourite with families.

Zip World and Wild Bounce

Adventure seekers can take on Zip World's treetop courses, featuring rope bridges, climbing challenges and thrilling zip lines through the woodland canopy. Younger visitors can burn off energy at Wild Bounce, an exciting outdoor inflatable attraction.

Discover Minty Land by BeWILDerwood

New at Brockhole, Minty Land by BeWILDerwood is a magical indoor play experience inspired by the world of Minty the Crocklebog. Children can climb, crawl, swing and slide through Minty's imaginative world, from exploring high amongst the clouds to racing down a waterfall slide. It's the perfect all-weather adventure for younger visitors, while adults can join the fun or relax with a coffee and cake nearby.

Please note: Dogs (except guide and assistance dogs) are not permitted inside the Minty Land play area and cannot be left in vehicles during your visit. Dogs are welcome in the neighbouring café and throughout the wider Brockhole on Windermere site.

The future of Brockhole is brighter than ever, with the award-winning BeWILDerwood bringing its much-loved mix of outdoor adventure, storytelling and imaginative play to the Lake District.

The excitement has already begun with the opening of Minty Land, BeWILDerwood's first-ever indoor play experience. Looking ahead, families can look forward to even more magical outdoor adventures arriving at Brockhole in Spring 2027, creating an exciting new chapter for this much-loved lakeside attraction.
