World of Beatrix Potter, Cruise and Lakes Aquarium
This option combines a visit to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction with a scenic cruise on Lake Windermere along with a visit to the Lakes Aquarium. The Lakes Aquarium, Lakeside, is the Ideal environment for learning about the secret world of the Lakes including habitats, the water cycle and conservation. Free Guided tours and teacher resource packs are available aswell as risk assessments and free teacher familiarisation visits. Packages that include the Lakes Aquarium link in well with the Science aspect of the National Curriculum eg. Life Processes and Living Things. The World of Beatrix Potter is a vibrant family attraction bringing to life all 23 enchanting stories in a magical recreation of the beautiful lake district countryside. The exhibition features famous characters from the book including peter rabbit and Mrs. Tiggywinkle, and the outdoor Peter Rabbit Garden offers visitors a timeless view of Mr. McGregor’s vegetable patch. Children can enjoy a free activity sheet whilst adults absorb themselves in Miss Potter’s history in the fascinating virtual world and interactive area.

- A single lake cruise from Lakeside and Bowness (40 minutes in duration) or vice versa. Return journeys or full lake cruises are also available.

Windermere Lake Cruises has ample parking for coaches at both Lakeside and Bowness piers and there is space for dropping off at Ambleside (Waterhead) Pier. Toilets are available on all of our ‘Steamers’ and modern launches (check for disabled access). Many of our Vessels have licensed bars and/or tea bars. So whilst enjoying the marvellous panoramic views, why not treat yourself to a tipple of your choice, or how about a warming soup to prepare you for your journey home?
Facilities for Wheelchair Users
Wheelchair users are strongly advised to call and confirm which vessel is operating which service. Our ‘Steamers’ are suitable for wheelchair users but onboard toilet facilities can only be reached by means of stairs. However there are adapted toilets at Lakeside, Bowness and Ambleside, and ‘Radar’ facilities close to Ambleside and Bowness Piers. The Main saloons are wheelchair accessible on the Teal and the Swan but not on the Tern (although there is ample covered accommodation).
