A Christmas cracker of an offer for local residents

Published: 11th December 2013

Two of Cumbria’s most popular visitor attractions are joining together to offer local residents an early Christmas present – with almost 50% off combined ‘car and cruise’ tickets over the festive period.

From Saturday 21 December 2013 to Sunday 5 January (excluding Christmas Day only), every adult with a local Residents Pass can get a return cruise between Bowness and Lakeside together with entry to the Lakeland Motor Museum for just £10.00. (Children’s tickets are just £6.00 each) The deal even includes a family ticket option and dedicated bus travel for the short journey between Lakeside and the Museum, tied in with Windermere Lake Cruises’ scheduled sailings.

Anyone living in the CA or LA postcodes (covering all of Cumbria and much of North Lancashire) is eligible for the free Residents Passes, which already provide significant discounts on entry to both attractions throughout the year.

This latest residents’ offer follows on from the success of the combined attraction tickets in 2013. More than 7,900 people purchased combined tickets for Windermere Lake Cruises and the Lakeland Motor Museum during this year’s main holiday season (Feb-Oct) – that’s up more than 9% on figures for the same period in 2012.

Managing Director of Windermere Lake Cruises, Nigel Wilkinson, says, “We know how stretched people’s budgets are – particularly at this time of year – so it’s great to be able to offer local people these special reductions over the Christmas period.

“This special offer means passengers can enjoy a relaxing sail down Windermere from Bowness, before hopping on a dedicated bus to the Lakeland Motor Museum for a touch of nostalgia at half the price. Alternatively, they can start and end their day at the Museum, parking in the free car park and using it as a base for the day’s adventures.”

The bus link between Lakeside and the Lakeland Motor Museum will also be running on weekends during early 2014 (up to 30th March ), as well as February half-term week (Monday 17th – Friday 21st Feb).
