A Director from Cumbria’s most popular visitor attraction will be one of the expert speakers at a prestigious tourism conference in Berlin next week.

Sales and Marketing Director at Windermere Lake Cruises, Jennifer Cormack, will be flying to the German capital to speak at a pre-conference event on Tuesday 6 March, leading into the world's largest tourism trade fair, ITB Berlin.

Windermere Lake Cruises has been asked to represent the North of England at the Promotion Event conference, which is dedicated to European waterways and will focus on two of the world’s fastest-growing markets for the cruise sector, North America and China.

A key theme for the event will be the importance of international collaboration and partnerships. Jennifer is also Chair of the English Lake District China Forum and her talk to overseas tour operators, tourist boards and hotels will highlight the Forum’s success in promoting the English Lake District as a ‘must see’ destination for Chinese travellers.

It comes just days after the English Lake District China Forum scooped a runner-up prize in the ‘Rising Star’ category at the Greater China Awards. The awards span the full spectrum of business sectors and honour those organisations which have made a significant contribution to developing trade and investment over the last 12 months.

Jennifer Cormack says, “The event in Berlin is a great opportunity to represent the North of England, promoting the region to key decision-makers from two vital international markets. With more direct flights to Manchester from the United States, we are in a really strong position to build new face-to-face relationships from this global powerhouse.

She continues, “The Chinese market also continues to be vitally important and we’re delighted to be using the English Lake District China Forum as an example of good practice for this esteemed audience. It is timely because the Forum is hoping to build on its existing success and attract new businesses from right across the county. Looking ahead, we want to bring a greater variety of attractions and experiences into the Forum and help develop new opportunities which will benefit Cumbria’s visitor economy as a whole.”
