Windermere Science Festival 2026

We’re pleased to share details of the Windermere Science Festival 2026, taking place at Windermere Jetty Museum, which is easily accessible by boat across the lake.

This action‑packed weekend features hands‑on STEM activities, fascinating talks and interactive workshops for all ages, set across the museum’s spectacular lakeside site.

Event Highlights

Visitors can enjoy live shows and demonstrations from leading science communicators and experts, including:

• Science Rapper Jon Chase, presenting The Science of Jurassic World, exploring the real science behind dinosaurs with music and rap
• Simon Gilbert from The Met Office, with a fun, family‑friendly talk on how weather forecasts are created
• Canoe safaris with ecologists, offering a unique way to explore science on Windermere
• Volcano science and other interactive discovery activities

On Sunday 10 May, attendees can take part in the festival’s much‑loved Big Float, where participants build and test a full‑sized cardboard boat on the lake (weather dependent).

Tickets from:

• £0 for under 5s
• £6 for children (5–15 years)
• £9 for students
• £13 for adults
• £20 for family tickets

🎟 Festival entry is included with Windermere Jetty Museum admission and tickets include 12 months’ museum access.
Lakeland Arts Members and Annual Pass holders go free.
Some activities may incur an additional charge.
