For more than 100 years, visitors to Windermere have enjoyed taking to the water in traditional wooden rowing boats. Today, you can continue that tradition or choose one of our easy-to-handle self-drive boats. Available to hire by the hour from Waterhead or Bowness Beach, they’re a relaxed and memorable way to experience England’s most famous lake.

Passenger Information

Each boat is 5 metres in length and has a capacity of 4 persons
Classic Windermere clinker design - a sight that has been part of the Windermere landscape since the 1800s
The boats are only available during our peak season (April to October) as they are expertly maintained in our craft workshop during the winter
Dog friendly
