Now in its 170+ year history, Grasmere Sports is one of the Lake District’s most popular traditional events, celebrating heritage, community spirit and outdoor activity. Set against the stunning backdrop of Grasmere, the event brings together locals and visitors for a full day of sport, entertainment and family fun.
The programme features a wide range of classic Lakeland activities, including Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling, fell running races, tug of war, hound racing, paragliding displays and a lively dog show with classes for all breeds. Runners of all ages are encouraged to take part, with junior and senior races available to enter online.
With something for every age, the event aims to encourage more people to get outdoors, take part in traditional sports and enjoy a memorable day in the heart of the Lakes.
Visitors are encouraged to travel sustainably where possible. Those arriving by bus, on foot or by bike can enjoy the event completely free, making it an ideal day out for local families and visitors alike.
