Windermere Lake Cruises launches summer services

Wonderful walks, perfect picnics and spectacular scenery are all part of the experience when you join one of our Windermere Lake Cruises summer services, starting from May 23rd.

Our car-free services take you across England’s largest lake, connecting you to family friendly attractions including Fell Foot Park and the Wray Estate, while also offering scenic evening cruises to unwind and take in the views.

We’ve been welcoming visitors on board our historic steamers since 1845, and more than 180 years later, we’re still proud to offer one of the most relaxing and memorable ways to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Walking has always been at the heart of the Lake District experience, and our Walker’s Ticket makes it even easier to enjoy. It combines three boat cruises with a stunning 4.5-mile walk along the peaceful western shore, plus free access to National Trust favourites like Claife Viewing Station and Wray grounds.

If you’re looking for the perfect picnic spot, you can hop on our regular ferry from Lakeside Pier to reach the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park — a big hit with families.

You can also discover even more National Trust gems, including Beatrix Potter’s world-famous home, Hill Top, just a 20-minute journey away on our Cross Lakes Service from Bowness to Windermere’s quieter western shore.

Step off at Ash Landing and you’ll find a network of easy-to-follow trails, perfect for exploring more stunning scenery and local heritage on foot.

If you’re staying at Hill of Oaks Lodge & Caravan Park, we’ve made it even easier to get out on the water, with sailings to Bowness, Brockhole and Ambleside running every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the summer.

As the day winds down, you can join us for a relaxing 75-minute evening sunset cruise — a peaceful way to experience Windermere at its most magical. Sailing north towards Waterhead, it’s the perfect way to end a day of walking or sightseeing, whether you’re visiting as a couple, with friends, or as a family.
