Who’s rustling in the reeds, splashing by the shore or hiding beneath the surface of Windermere? Head to the Boathouse for Jetty Tails, a series of playful family storytelling sessions inspired by the fascinating creatures that call England’s largest natural lake home. Surrounded by historic boats, children and their grown-ups can settle in and enjoy captivating tales that bring Windermere’s wildlife, characters and hidden lake life to life. Let your imagination drift across the water as stories unfold and discover the creatures that inspire the museum’s Summer of Senses exhibition. Perfect for families looking to add a little extra adventure to their museum visit, Jetty Tails combines storytelling, nature and imagination in a fun and engaging experience for all ages.


Please note: This is a drop-in activity running on Tuesdays throughout the summer holidays and is included with museum admission.

Travel tip: Make it a stress-free outing by arriving by boat and enjoying the journey as part of the experience.
