Windermere Lake Cruises welcomes visitors from around the world, but locals can also take advantage of fantastic discounts, making it easier than ever to explore England’s longest lake. Whether you’re a regular cruiser or planning a special day out, the Silver Sailor Fridays and Local Residents’ Discount Card offer incredible savings on cruises and attractions.

Silver Sailor Fridays, running until 4 April 2025 and returning in the autumn, provide exclusive discounts for over-60s on Freedom of the Lake Passes, Yellow Cruises, Red Cruises, and entry to Lakeland Motor Museum. Passengers can also bring a local friend of any age, who will enjoy the same discounted rate. A Freedom of the Lake Cruise, allowing unlimited travel for the day, is available for just £8 (usually £24.50), while half-lake cruises are reduced to £4.50, saving up to £14.

Seasonal savings

Local residents can also benefit from year-round savings with the free Local Residents’ Discount Card, available to those living in Cumbria or North Lancashire (LA or CA postcode). The card offers:

  • 50% off cruises and Lakeland Motor Museum entry from 1 October – 30 April
  • 20% discount on both attractions during peak summer months

In addition, our friends offer local discounts (please apply separately for these):

Our card is valid for five years, with a simple application process requiring proof of residency.

Windermere Lake Cruises operates services across the full length of Windermere, connecting Bowness, Ambleside, and Lakeside, with additional seasonal stops. Vessels offer indoor and outdoor seating, refreshments, and live commentary, providing a relaxing and scenic experience on the water.

Lakeland Motor Museum, located in Backbarrow, is home to an extensive collection of historic vehicles and motoring memorabilia, including the Bluebird exhibition, which celebrates Donald Campbell’s world record achievements.
