One of our favourite family days out starts with the Red Cruise to Brockhole.
There’s plenty to keep children entertained, from gardens and play areas to lakeside walks and adventure activities. If you've got little daredevils in the family, Zip World Treetop Nets is always a hit.

Looking for a full day out?
Our Yellow Cruise takes you to Lakeside, where you can combine your cruise with a visit to the Lakes Aquarium or enjoy a ride on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.
For many families, it's a Lake District tradition and one of the most popular summer holiday combinations.
Hop aboard the Green Cruise and head across to Wray.
The grounds are perfect for family walks, games on the grass and lakeside picnics. There are woodland paths to explore, beautiful views across the lake and plenty of space for children to burn off some energy.
It's a completely different side of Windermere and well worth discovering.
One of Windermere's best viewpoints is just a short walk from Ash Landing.
Claife Viewing Station offers incredible views across the lake and is a great option if you're looking for a gentle walk with a rewarding finish. It also makes a brilliant stop if you're exploring the western shore.

Our self-drive boats are one of the best ways to enjoy Windermere as a family. There's no rush, no timetable and no experience needed.
Bring a picnic, explore hidden bays and enjoy a different perspective of the lake. With space for up to six people, it's a great value family activity during the school holidays.
One of the easiest ways to explore more during the summer holidays is to combine cruises with local transport.
This August, children travel free on Stagecoach buses, making it easier than ever to visit places like Ambleside, Hawkshead and Grasmere as part of your day out.
Sometimes the best days are the simplest.
Pack a picnic and head to one of our favourite spots around the lake, including Millerground, Fell Foot, Brockhole or Wray. All offer beautiful views, plenty of open space and the perfect excuse to spend a few hours outdoors together.
At the southern end of Windermere, Fell Foot is a fantastic place to spend a sunny afternoon.
Open spaces, lakeside views and room for family picnics make it a favourite during the summer months. You can even arrive by boat using the Fell Foot Ferry, making the journey part of the experience.
After a busy day exploring, there's no better place to relax than Bowness.
Enjoy fish and chips from Trenchers or an ice cream by the waterfront, browse the shops, stop for a family meal or simply watch the boats coming and going across the bay.
It's the perfect way to round off a summer day on Windermere.
