“We’re taking the Queen to London”

On Monday 28th May 2012 Windermere Lake Cruises will be waving goodbye to its historic vessel ‘Queen of the Lake’ as she departs on her 300 mile journey to London to represent Cumbria in the prestigious Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. The iconic boat will be craned out of Windermere’s Bowness Bay in the early evening (approximately 6pm-8pm) on 28th May and will then be transported by Cockermouth based Lawsons Haulage in the early hours of the following day.

Preview of official Olympic torch route with MV Tern

Visitors to Windermere will soon be able to cruise on the same boat - and along the same route - as the official Olympic torch will follow in this summer’s Olympic Torch Relay event from today. As Windermere Lake Cruises launches its iconic MV Tern vessel into public service after its winter rest, the company hopes the local community will share in the excitement leading up to what promises to be one of the region’s most prolific events of the year.

‘Pawfect’ pooch pass for dog owners

With National Pet Month kicking off in April, Cumbria’s most popular attraction, Windermere Lake Cruises is offering its furry passengers a very special treat. In honour of dogs everywhere the cruise specialists are now operating an all-year-round dog friendly policy, giving all well behaved dogs free travel when accompanied by their obedient owners - so even canine companions can appreciate the region’s stunning scenery. There are even onboard doggy bowls!
