The path starts at Lakeside Pier near the Windermere lake-shore and then meanders along the River Leven, passing through lush grassland and along then over the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. The walk is designed to be accessible to all, with a smooth and well-maintained gravel path that is suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and those with limited mobility. It's a family-friendly activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, making it a perfect outing for everyone.

As you continue along the path, you'll come across several picturesque spots to stop and take in the view. Find a quiet spot on the grassy banks to enjoy a picnic or simply soak in the tranquility of the surroundings.

As you approach The Swan at Newby Bridge, you'll be rewarded with glimpses of the historic Newby Bridge itself, a charming stone bridge that spans the River Leven. The bridge has been an iconic landmark in the area for over 350 years and serves as a testament to the rich history and heritage of the Lake District.

Arriving at Newby Bridge, you'll find yourself in a quaint village with its own unique charm. Take a stroll around the village or indulge in some refreshments at one of the cozy cafes or pubs. You can also take a moment to appreciate the stunning view of the river and the bridge from this vantage point. Newby Bridge Halt on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway is only 2 minutes' walk away from the end of the path - catch the train here to return to Lakeside Station or travel west to Haverthwaite Station.

Newby Bridge has regular bus services between Kendal and Barrow-in-Furness. The Stagecoach bus 6 and X6 (timetable) both stop in the village and can get you to Ulverston, Lakeland Motor Museum, Kendal or Barrow-in-Furness with ease.
