Bowness is the ‘heart’ of the Lake District, a holiday town with every sort of shop you can imagine with cafes and restaurants, just five minutes walk from the pier is The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.
Ambleside is set amongst breathtaking majestic mountains and gentle rolling fells, this distinctive and very attractive Lakeland village is always a popular point to leave the vessel before returning on a later boat. The village of Ambleside is about 1 mile away from our piers.
Lakeside at the most southern end of the lake is the home of the award-winning freshwater Lakes Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Over 30 fascinating displays featuring the UK’s largest collection of freshwater fish as well as mischievous otters and diving ducks. The railway is on the opposite side to our jetty and connects with our large steamers and takes you by the river scenery of the beautiful Leven Valley.
The Lakeland Motor Museum is now also at the south end of the lake, now located at Backbarrow by the River Leven, about 10 mins drive away from our piers. In the summer months we have a connecting bus at Lakeside piers to take you to the Motor Museum.
In the winter months the bus runs only at weekends. Please ring this office on 015394 43360 for bus times.
